Grit Gym is a community-driven fitness space in Coolamon, built to support people of all ages and abilities. What started as a passion for movement and health has grown into a place where locals come together to train, improve, and support one another.

We’re not focused on being the biggest gym—we’re focused on being the most supportive. Whether you're new to exercise, returning after time away, or working towards performance goals, Grit Gym is here to guide you every step of the way.

Coaches Who Care

Serinah Maddox

Founder & Head Coach

Serinah is a proud Coolamon local, mother of four, and PDHPE teacher with a deep passion for health and fitness. She is a qualified Personal Trainer, Matwork Pilates Instructor, and Nutritionist, with further study in women’s core and pelvic floor health.

Serinah founded Maddox Group Exercise in 2017, which has grown into Grit Gym—a thriving, inclusive fitness community. She is passionate about helping people build confidence, improve movement, and develop lifelong healthy habits.

Tanner Lewis

Lead Trainer

Tanner began her fitness journey through a school-based traineeship with Maddox Group Exercise, where she developed her passion for coaching. She is now a qualified Personal Trainer with additional training in working with older adults and individuals with disabilities.

Tanner also runs her own business within Grit Gym and is a registered NDIS provider, delivering personalised, inclusive training that supports each individual’s goals.

Jamie Maddox

Athlete Program Coordinator

Jamie is the co-founder of GRIT Gym and specialises in elite AFL and soccer-specific training. Drawing on his strong background in both sports, he coordinates our Talented Athlete Program (TAP), where his passion for youth development and high-performance training helps athletes reach their full potential.

Lawson Buchegger

Group Exercise Trainer

Lawson is undertaking a school-based traineeship and is partway through completing his Certificate III in Fitness. He leads our running sessions and supports athletes with tailored training programs, from 1km events through to full marathons.

Paul Billingham

Personal Trainer

A proud Coolamon local, Paul brings years of grassroots coaching experience through AFL and cricket, having coached his four boys and their mates. Renowned for his strong training ethic, he leads our supervised Open Gym for young people, building confidence, discipline, and strong relationships with those he works with. He is also available for Personal Training.
